Percussionist, composer and producer Jorge Bermudez was born in Nicaragua and raised in San Francisco, California.
It was an exciting musical time in San Francisco during the late 60’s and early 70’s and Jorge enjoyed soaking up all of these varied musical flavors. 1972 found Jorge recording with guitarist Jorge Santana’s Latin rock group "Malo" at the impressionable age of 17. He played on the now historic “Dos” album on the Warner Bros. record label. Bermudez laid down rhythmic accompaniment while veteran Cuban conga player Francisco Aguabella played a fiery conga solo on the song “Oye Mama.” 50 years later the track still sounds great.
Since then, through hard work and fierce dedication to his craft, Bermudez has toured, and recorded with artists like Jose Feliciano, Jeffrey Osbourne, The Escovedo Family including the early historical days with the late Phil and Coke Escovedo, Joe Sample, Peter Case, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Mathis, The Temptations, The Gypsy Kings, Rod Stewart, David Baerwald, Santa Esmeralda, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Benise, Angela Bofill and many more. Jorge had the honor of Grammy Award winning Female Latin Music Icon Sheila E playing on his songs, "Borracho Y Loco" and "Cumbia Cubana".
Mickey Hart, one of the original members of The Grateful Dead invited Jorge to record percussion parts on 2 Planet Drum CD’s, “Mystery Box” and “Supralingua.” These recordings featured an amazing cast of world renowned percussionists like Giovanni Hidalgo and Zakir Hussein. This amazing cast of drummers recorded the drum anthem that was heard on NBC for the opening ceremonies of the 96 Olympics. During the 1996 Olympics, Jorge performed with Carlos Santana's band with the Dance Troupe "Escola Nova De Samba" led by Chalo Eduardo, a veteran of 10 years as percussionist for Sergio Mendes.
In 1986, Jorge founded the band and company “Bermudez Triangle” with sax player Cornelius Bumpus of The Doobie Brothers. In 1987, The Bermudez Triangle signed with Warner Brother's Latina and in December 1989 they had a Billboard dance pick of the week. The Bermudez Triangle songs have been placed in many different TV shows such as " The Shield", "CSI-Miami", “The Elian Gonzales story”, and many more. As a teacher, Jorge has taught at The University of Taipei in Taiwan and Texas Christian University.
“Que Viva San Francisco” was written during the pandemic. Jorge spent lots of time hanging out at his favorite places from his youth in the barrio Mission. It was cathartic because he was able to bring the love of his elders who are in heaven, back to life again. The song took 9 months to create and during this process he had a Quadruple bypass for genetic calcification at Stanford, 93 tracks of music to manage, and a large cast of talented musicians to coordinate skillfully. He then had another heart surgery to repair a tear in his sternum after saving the life of a toddler from an oncoming vehicle. He picked her up and lifted her to safety, however in the process, he accidentally ripped the healing bone in his sternum. Jorge successfully battled stage 3 B-Cell diffused Lymphoma that afflicted him from 2014 to 2018 and had his life saved by Dr. Gupta at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. Jorge's proudest accomplishment is his 3 children George, Felicia and Richard and his adored 7 grandkids.

Juan Luis Perez was born in Richmond, CA is an anomaly within a cliche'. The middle child of parents who immigrated from Mexico early in life chasing the American dream. He grew up immersed in diverse culture from his fathers love of Elvis, classic rock and early mission Motown hits to playing in his uncles band covering boleros/salsas y cumbias on the weekends then waking up early Sunday to play for church since the age of 7. Spending summers at east bay center for arts he heard west African rhythms and eventually spent years playing in Black Baptist churches, music became the language that could link him w anyone. However, the gap he noticed between his parents generation and his own was palpable. Split between his heritage and personal tastes he envisioned music that his grandparents and peers could all feel represented by. This album, entitled 'The Get Down' is an ode to all mentors, influences and shaping life experiences. He accompanies rich vocals with flooring content, expert execution of musical artistry, breaking genre barriers and even dropping some dance tracks to make this project more than an album but a soundtrack to life many will resonate with.
